Empowering Blind Children and Adults

Ensuring Education, Resources, and Independence

At the ADDIS Foundation for Community Health, we are committed to providing assistive devices, braille materials, food, and clothing to those in need. By supporting the Ethiopian National Association of the Blind (ENAB) with material and financial aid, we work toward shared goals: ensuring education for blind children and adults and eliminating preventable blindness.

Our mission is to help every blind individual reach their full potential and lead a happy, productive life. To achieve this, we offer ongoing support, including the year-round distribution of white canes, which empower people with visual impairments to navigate safely and independently.

We also address basic needs like food, clothing, and housing assistance enabling individuals to focus on education and skill development. Our ultimate aim is to help those living with blindness become self-sufficient, contributing members of their communities and fostering lasting change.

A lack of instructional resources remains a significant barrier to education for blind individuals. By providing essential tools and aids, we aim to enhance their academic success and open doors to greater opportunities. Your donations make this mission possible, equipping children, siblings, and neighbors with the tools they need to lead independent and fulfilling lives—the most meaningful impact of all.

At SCPDA, we donated funds to help build a library, provided white canes, eyeglasses, and clothing, and offered financial assistance to older students to secure housing once they graduate from campus living.

Part of our eyeglass distribution program is carried out in partnership with Queen Zewditu Hospital. The hospital identifies individuals with the greatest need for eyeglasses, referring them to a city social worker who connects them with ADDIS Foundation for Community Health to provide the eyeglasses they require.
